People have been grappling with the writings of the Apostle Paul since the time he first walked this earth and began proclaiming the gospel throughout the world. eastern part of the world. However, over the past 50 years, the debate has intensified as prominent scholars have arrived at different interpretations of Paul's literature. This led to a re-examination of Paul's writings and the articulation of a vigorous defense of his beliefs about the historical Paul. This article is written to articulate some of the more recent positions relating to Pauline scholarship and to provide some possible implications of their findings. The new perspectives on Paul can be rather confusing to the layman in general, so it is the purpose of this article to clarify and explain these new positions in contrast to the widespread and classical orthodox view which contains many doctrines on which l The Church was held. years. The term "New Perspective on Paul" was a coined phrase used in 1982 by James Dunn to refer to ongoing Pauline scholarship. However, this research and movement began well before Dunn's time (Johnson, 62). The beginnings date back to Krister Stendahl, a Lutheran theologian, who began to argue that Augustine and Luther read their current problems into the writings of Paul. This would mean that their concerns were not the same as Paul's historical concerns (Westerholm, 134). Obviously, this has led to accusations of misinterpretation of the historical text. Scholars doing this research say they are returning to a more historical and Jewish Paul.
