    Year-round schooling is increasingly popular in the United States and has shown positive academic benefits for students enrolled in continuing schools. Many countries implement year-round schooling and the academic abilities of their students far exceed those in the United States. Year-round schooling as well as increased school days should be implemented in schools across the United States. The need for long summer vacations is non-existent because society has become industrialized. Implementing year-round schooling and increasing the number of school days will allow the United States to invest more time in education to grow and promote academic success. In the past, schools were initially on a schedule in which students were required to spend the majority of the year in school and 2 to 3 months off for summer vacation. The goal was for the children to be able to stay home during the summer to help their parents run the family farm. Today, due to the gradual industrialization of agriculture, the modernization of agricultural equipment, and the decrease in the number of family farms, the need for children at home during the summer to help manage the family farms is tiny, even obsolete; It is for this reason that many schools in the United States have moved to year-round (“summer”) schooling. Contrary to popular belief, year-round schooling does not generally mean more school days. Currently, most year-round schools adhere to the 180 days per year principle. Instead of the traditional long summer vacation, year-round schools spread the 180 days throughout the year while allowing for shorter breaks. The common schedule for year-round schools includes cycles of 2-3 months in school followed by 2-3 weeks of breaks ("Research Spotlight...... middle of paper ..... .ta is holding back academic growth. The United States States should examine the academic success of other countries, question the reasons for their success, and use this information to our advantage.
