In addition to recruiting qualified candidates, the city must create a positive work environment for long-term employment. Retaining employees with varied work experience and skills requires a strategic plan with varied effects and efforts. Additionally, employers control a large talent pool that has grown with laid-off employees or displaced workers who need a quality work environment. Additionally, these workers need the jobs on offer and will often find any job that gives them an advantage in today's market. Staffing and Retention The first phase involves making the position known in the city. The marketing department as well as human resources must develop an informative announcement about the position(s). The best options would be to address the requirements, explain the specific task of the position and the benefits available. The second phase involves interviewing possible candidates. The interview process should be formal but also relaxing for the potential candidate. The interview should be conducted with an additional member of the HR team, as well as the senior manager. The interview should be of the answers and questions type, but also positive, allowing the candidate to feel comfortable.
