Emmy Eckhouse experienced all these emotions in the face of her father's abuse. She was afraid of her father and felt helpless, because her mother was not there for her and because her mother did not support her when she discovered the abuse. Shame was also felt when she didn't want to tell her boyfriend about the situation.
