In the film The Passion of the Christ directed by Mel Gibson, the last twelve hours of the life of Jesus are played out. This film was written by Mel Gibson and Benedict Fitzgerald. It depicts the historical period of the first century AD. Mel's film gives us more insight into the historical period it depicts, reflects the values and attitudes of the period it depicts, shows certain values the characters symbolize and the importance of that period of history . chosen as the title of this film because it has a lot of meaning. It was named The Passion of the Christ, because it shows the passion of Jesus. Jesus shows his passion towards the Jewish people and even towards those who were against them, through love, hope, faith and forgiveness. He gave his life for the greater good of humanity and suffered so that we could be saved. The film opens in the Garden of Olives. Jesus goes there after the last supper to pray with his apostles Peter, James and John. In the garden, Jesus is tempted by Satan but resists him. Jesus of Nazareth sparked many controversies. He publicly announced that he was the Son of God and word quickly spread that he could perform miracles. One of Jesus' apostles, Judas, betrays Jesus for thirty pieces of silver and tells Caiaphas' guards where he is. The guards come for Jesus and arrest him. Caiaphas organizes a trial, where they find Jesus guilty of blasphemy and sentence him to death. After this trial, Jesus was brought before the Roman governor of Palestine, Pontius Pilate, for his effective condemnation. Pontius realized that if he did not accept what the people who followed Caiaphas would do, he would have a major political conflict, so he sends the case to King Herod. As for the film, it follows the New Testament, the Hebrew Bible, traditional iconography and stories, and Catholic devotional writings. . So I think it's safe to say that you can rely on the film to study history. The Passion of the Christ is a very powerful and moving film. Mel Gibson did a great job directing and writing the film with Benedict Fitzgerald. The film did a very accurate job of depicting the last twelve hours of Jesus in the first century AD. The film gives the viewer more information about the historical period it depicts, reflects the values and attitudes of the period it depicts, shows certain values symbolized by the characters and the importance of that period of history . It also gives a proper study of history. I would recommend everyone to watch this very controversial film.
