  • Essay / The King of Kings: Ozymandias - 680

Percy Shelley has written many exceptional and memorable stories through poetry. Born in 1792 and died in 1822, Shelly did not live very long. In fact, Shelly, along with the other two generations of Romantic-era writers, died young; however, the way Shelly died was very shocking. After publishing one of his famous works, Ode to the West Wind, just weeks after Shelly died from the West Winds, destroying his ship and leading to Shelley's drowning. As tragic as it may be, not only are his works very remarkable, but these three stories, Ozymandias, Ode to the West Wind and To a Lark, all paint a strong sensory picture; However, the one that gives the clearest sense of ideas and feelings would be Ozymandias because the pharaoh was very proud of himself, he thought he was the best at ruling, and ultimately the pharaoh's quote on the statue that he had exhibited around the cities he had created. Arrogance can sometimes be a good thing; however, for Ozymandias, he was too proud of himself. Ozymandias had created an empire in Egypt, and one of the most powerful. But nothing ever stood in his way. As stated: “My name is Ozymandias, king of kings” (Prentice Hall Literature, 2013, p. 869, line 10). A little arrogance is good, but someone like the great Ozymandias had too much confidence in himself. This can be about any topic, and the one that comes to mind is sports. In the world of sports, there is always someone who is “the greatest player of all time”. So, creating a player who thinks it will almost be possible that they will one day be defeated, but; However, having said that, with the right training for a beginner, anything is possible. Someone to defeat the other person (the arrogant person), would feel defeated, if that person was in the middle of a paper......without the Ozymandias text, it creates a central theme and ideas. Some are considered arrogant and arrogant, and the king represents true insolence. A statue represents a symbol of power or popularity, but someone like Ozymandias is more interested in pride than ruling his country. What he did was completely inappropriate and completely disrespectful to all kingdoms with this type of rule. But who should judge? All leaders lack some sort of personality. As he travels through the land of old, it creates a sense of pride throughout the poem, and whether this is the right way to rule or not, it cannot be undone now. For this is how the Egyptians ruled for a while, have things changed now? Maybe, but because of Ozymandias' decision, it will forever change the way Ozymandias himself will be viewed in years to come.
