Ray Kroc was the exclusive distributor for a milkshake maker called Multimixer. Meanwhile, two brothers, Richard and Maurice McDonald, owned and operated a hamburger restaurant in San Bernadino, California in the 1950s. Ray Kroc heard how well the McDonald brothers used their multimixers to serve their customers. He met with them and acquired the franchise right from them to manage McDonald's restaurants. A great success story was happening. In 1955, Ray Kroc founded the McDonald's Corporation and opened the first restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois. In 1961, he bought the McDonald brothers. And the rest, as they say, is history. McDonald's has become the largest restaurant organization in the world. Today, there are more than 34,000 McDonald's restaurants serving 69 million customers in more than 119 countries every day. Ray Kroc died in 1984 but his legacy lives on. His success story continues with the families of McDonald's employees, franchisees and suppliers. His commitment, dedication and accomplishments live on in McDonald's restaurants around the world. Strategic Direction The quality of the agreement between the company, its franchisees and its suppliers (together called the "framework") has been essential to McDonald's prosperity. Using their system, they can recognize, execute and adapt ideas that meet changing customer needs and inclinations. Additionally, the action plan allows McDonald's to reliably convey locally significant restaurant encounters to customers and become an essential part of the groups they serve. McDonald's customer-centric Plan to Win (“Plan”) provides a typical structure that aligns its global operations. and takes into account the nearby adjustment. They continue to focus on three global development needs: improving their menu, modernizing the customer experience, and expanding the openness to the McDonald's brand within their plan system. Their efforts reinforce these needs and are executed with a focus on the five columns of the plan - People, Products, Place, Price and Promotion - to improve customer understanding and build investor esteem over the long term. They believe these meet the growing needs of their customers and, combined with their skills in accommodations, menu assortment, geographic diversification and system layout, will drive long-term economic development .
