    There is no doubt that the degree of involvement and type of relationship developed between a parent and child has a great influence and can benefit cognitive development and behavior of the child. The type of parent-child relationship achieved can also hinder these developments if the relationship fails to meet a child's common daily necessities as he or she goes through developmental changes. After much deliberation, reading, and research, it is no surprise that the type of relationship established between a parent and child serves as a foundation as well as building blocks for children to become fulfilled and successful adults. Factors such as amount of income, level of involvement, play time, education obtained by parents, literacy at home and schooling all influence the type of relationship that is built between parents and their children. In other words, the more income, involvement, play time, education, home literacy, and teaching a parent has and the more they accomplish with their child, the more likely the child is to experience advanced cognitive and behavioral development. Along with many popular childhood behaviors, it is said that the most common behavior observed in children is failure to adhere to bedtime (Ortiz & McCormick 2007). Failure to adhere to bedtime not only affects the relationship between a child and parent, but it also affects the child's overall academic performance and can even lead to illnesses and mental disorders. Consistent failure to adhere to bedtime can cause parents to become increasingly frustrated and, as a result, lead to physical scolding in order to regain control of the situation and achieve the desired outcome; sleep.
