Chemistry has existed since the creation of the earth, a time when computers, televisions or simple beakers were not yet invented. Chemistry has always existed, but it was not considered a science until the discovery of modern chemistry. Modern chemistry has only been around for centuries, when author Robert Boyle published The Skeptical Chemist in 1661. Shortly after Robert's publication, Antoine Lavoisier developed the law of conservation of mass, and this was the beginning of modern chemistry considered as a science. After that, the chemistry changed forever. Starting in the prehistoric era, chemistry was first used to explain religious things, as known metals were compared to celestial bodies. 1,330 years later, Democritus declared that the atom was the simplest matter, a statement that was the first of its kind when it came to matter. One hundred and thirty years later, Aristotle declared the existence of the four elements, fire, water, air and earth. He also stated that matter had four properties: hot, cold, dry and wet. All of these things happened between prehistoric times and the beginning of the Christian era. Chemistry was considered black magic at that time. Soon after, alchemy was used, which used scientific methods to transform ordinary metals into gold. The beginning of alchemy occurred when alchemists, under the influence of Aristotle, attempted to transform cheap metals into gold, an idea unheard of at the time, and they used what it is called the philosopher's stone. Soon after, Pope John XXII issued an order banning the manufacture of gold, but that did not stop the gold manufacturers. Gold manufacturers kept trying to create gold from simple, known metals, and they failed to do so...... middle of paper...... television would have been extremely stopped without the invention of these tubes. Soon I have a feeling the vacuum tube will lead to even bigger things, with even more innovations in the vacuum tube field, and I have a feeling it will only get bigger from now on. Chemistry is a huge subject, with a history that dates back all time. Let's go back to British Columbia, to a time when the United States wasn't even thought of yet, and now one of the few things that has progressed so far since that time is chemistry. From the idea that black magic and alchemy are real to today where chemistry is huge with new discoveries every year, you can only begin to scratch the surface of the impact of chemistry on our Company. Chemistry is a subject that will continue to develop, and I have the impression that for the moment we have touched very little on the mystery of chemistry..
