  • Essay / Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor - 1455

"Day of Infamy"On December 7, 1941, Japanese planes attacked the naval base at Pearl Harbor with a horrific attack. This is how the 32nd President of the United States, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, delivered his famous speech. Shortly thereafter, the British and the United States declared war on Japan. Shortly after, Germany declared war on the United States. The attack on Pearl Harbor should be considered America's starting point in the war of World War II. Technically, the war started earlier, around 1921-1922, when Adolf Hitler took control of the National Socialist German workers, also known as the Nazis. But the United States was not involved until the Japanese suddenly attacked Pearl Harbor. The United States did have the idea that the Japanese were attacking America, but that's another debate. However, if the Americans at Pearl Harbor knew with certainty that the Japanese planes were going to attack, would this assault have another outcome? I believe that would be the case. If I could go back in time and prevent something I think I would go to Pearl Harbor to confirm and warn that the Japanese are going to attack Pearl Harbor and with that in mind the US Navy fleet would have been fine prepared for such an attack. as if an attack from Japan was imminent. With my precautions, the outcome of the attack would have been completely different and the American economy today could have been different. Regardless of the warning, the Pearl Harbor naval base would still be attacked. The losses, however, would be completely different. During the two-hour attack on Pearl Harbor, 18 warships, 188 aircraft, and 2,403 military personnel were killed in the attack. One of the main reasons was that they weren't all prepared. The Japanese attacked during normal people's waking hours. Many service members were still asleep or just starting their day, thinking it would be an ordinary day. Had they been well warned or prepared, American planes would have been ready for war or attack. With this in mind, they would have had a better chance of fighting back against the Japanese. There would have been more planes in the air, more heavy armory engaged, better positioned and quite possibly another fleet of planes.
