  • Essay / Life Intact in Plato's Apology - 1038

During his time in court, he explained who he was and defended himself to the end, although the jury still sentenced him to dead. Deep down, Socrates always knew he was a good man. He said: “The hour of departure has come and we are leaving: I to die and you to live. What is best, only God knows” (Plato, 1871, para. 75). This really shows how Socrates does not regret the life he lived or the things he did. I really enjoyed this story because the lessons it taught were very enriching. Even though Socrates died unjustly, he chose to live by high moral standards and never give in to peer pressure.
