How do I see Edna's actions at the end of The Awakening? Before The Awakening ended, Edna discovered many new things about herself and learned what it means to be a free woman in her society. She learns that she does not want to be one of the typical women in society at the time and goes against the norms. Edna discovers that spending time with Robert and Miss Reisz makes her very happy. While spending time with Miss Reisz, Edna learns that she has a creative side and that she expresses this side through art. Another thing Edna discovers is that sex can be very pleasurable. Above all, Edna learns from within that she does not want to be one of the typical women in society and that she wants to free herself from everything. Ultimately, Edna is a very unhappy woman in a society she doesn't want to be a part of, so she does the things that make her happy and feel full.
