Essay / Gabriel Garcia Marquez - 1007
The mother and sister of a troubled young thief, who had been killed, came to lay flowers at his grave. In some Latin American countries, a siesta is an early afternoon rest period for everyone, even if businesses close. In "Tuesday Siesta", I think Gabriel wanted readers to make a connection with the young thief's family. To really feel like they didn't have much, let alone money. Like when Gabriel describes what the thief was wearing, it made me make the connection. Some think very little of the poor, some even despise them as if they were nothing, failures! but in reality, they are just less fortunate. The mother in the short story "Tuesday Nap", despite the poverty, the tragedy, even despite the shame that her son may have inflicted on her family and on herself, she still retains a kind of dignity and is gone. with head held high. The mother didn't want to let others think she was ashamed of her son. “Senteno Ayala” is the name belonging to the mother that the son will bear with honor. the mother takes full responsibility for her wrongdoing. I also think that's why the mother and daughter leave with such dignity. I think this story has a powerful message. The family must remain united no matter what. As my mother always says "those who count do not judge and those who judge do not judge "
