Essay / A serious moral/ethical question - 955
Ethics is the science which seeks to know, understand and be wise with respect to the various criteria or standards in light of which we make decisions about the good or harm of various actions and I hope that we will act in accordance with various decisions. Morality is the very specific application of ethical theories and is generally more specific. Abortion is a moral and ethical issue that has been discussed and debated for many years. Some are opposed to the idea of abortion being described as "pro-life", while others are more in favor of the discretion left to the woman carrying the child and the family concerned. This is classified as “Pro-choice”. Ethics and morality are separated into two main sectors. The first being non-consecutive criteria oriented towards the past and the second being consequent criteria oriented towards the future. Past-oriented inconsequential criteria include the authoritarian perspective, the categorical imperative, social contract theory, natural law theory, virtue ethics, and prima facie duties. These six ethics are called deontological theories. The authoritarian perspective does not have a specific philosopher who created it, but it includes family members, teachers, friends, religious figures and symbols, politicians, and various other people. According to this perspective, abortion would be degrading and disapproving, especially from a religious perspective, because it would be tantamount to taking the life of another living being and, in most cases, would be compared to murder. The following criterion was created by Emanuel Cont. His theory has a lot to do with the absolute. His first categorical imperative can be defined as universalization where he says that if one has to take... middle of paper a ical or moral decision, always try to bring the greatest good, happiness, pleasure and freedom from pain for the greatest number of people involved or affected by the decision. This would be at odds with abortion because, since the ratio is one to one with only mother and child, the child would be inflicted with pain without any chance of happiness, goodness, or pleasure. Situationism was created by Joseph Fletcher and this ethic was based on the situation the person was in, but the principle is that whatever you decide, bring out the most "agape" which translates to brotherly love . Overall, it also depends on the mother's situation. If the mother is in a terrible situation, abortion might be the best option. However, if the mother is stable and capable of being a positive role model and a superb mother, then abortion would be frowned upon..
