The past often contains many things we desire, whether it is something as simple as a peaceful life or something strong like a relationship with someone who has been lost. We all try to return to those feelings or times in many ways, from simple memories or likes to ways as ridiculous and wacky as Gatsby's parties. Whether or not these feelings are actually felt again varies from attempt to attempt, in the case of "The Great Gatsby" it was only for a brief moment before it was ripped away from Gatsby with the one by Tom.
