    Movies are generally developed for several reasons. Most writers and directors come up with films that present or represent certain thematic and current issues that they have in mind. These numbers may be intended for entertainment purposes as well as educational purposes. It is essential to note that films usually carry societal connotations (Guynn 127). They describe the desires and sufferings of people within society. They capture lifestyles, cultures and political, social and economic issues, among others. The cinematic and narrative elements of films as well as other stylistic devices help bring out the desired meaning or outcome. Modern filmmakers have creatively used various aspects showing events depicting the historical growth of particular nations. These films show the reasons why certain historical aspects were erased or remained and why they are of particular importance to these nations. Au Revoir les Enfantes also known as Goodbye Children is about a French boarding school run by priests (Everett 49). The school seems to be a place of protection where people enjoyed peace and harmony until a new student entered the school. The new student was assigned a room that he could share with a student at the top of his class. Although they became rivals from their first contact, they subsequently form an inseparable bond linked by a common secret. They became friends one night when they got lost in the woods and were rescued by German soldiers. The soldiers wrapped them in blankets and took them back to school.
