The first poem I chose is called “Commuting to Work”. This is a discovered poem (Anderson 2006 p. 249) that began based on the suggested prompt "about a crowded place" on the TMA 03 assessment page. I chose the station and the train because it always bothers me to see how people rush to get on the train without worrying about others. As I wrote the poem, I discovered that it naturally captured the sound of the train, the dactyl meter, dum da da (Anderson 2006 p.239), which helped situate the subject when reading it aloud. voice. I had to mix up the words and change some endings, like changing hustle and jog to hustle and jog to make the rhythm flow better. The line pattern then became a syllabic form of 5454. The first three lines were fairly easy to compose, with a number of alliterative internal rhyming words giving the impression of the seesaw movement. I considered leaving the poem at three stanzas, but after leaving it for a while I went back and discovered that it didn't seem finished, so after many revisions I added the fourth.
