Essay / Seven Habits Profile: Using the Seven Habits Profile
The first suggestion is that consideration should be the greatest concern. Consideration is “the extent to which the leader is attentive to subordinates, respects their ideas and feelings, and establishes mutual trust (Daft, 2014).” Given that this is a relationship-oriented behavior, this would suggest that becoming proficient in consideration, as opposed to initiation or the extent to which a leader directs subordinates, would be a major asset for me personally. As studies show that effective leaders can have a high level of consideration and little initiating structure, or low consideration and a high level of initiating structure (Daft, 2014), one could assume that a relationship-oriented leader should strive to have a high level of consideration.
