Essay / The advantages and disadvantages of the French healthcare system
“Patients have an extraordinary choice among providers” (Rodwin 1). Not only are individuals allowed to choose their doctor, but doctors can also choose where they want to work and whether it is in the private or public sector. Thus, the French maintain their liberal ideas regarding health care, while maintaining a system that cares for each of its citizens. This also avoids the lack of choice that exists in some national health systems and is a concern for countries considering a variation of one of these systems.
