  • Essay / The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka - 1236

The Metamorphosis is a short novel published in 1915 although it was written in 1912. The novel is considered by many to be a work of literary art and Kafka's best work . The novel is one of the few completed works by Franz Kafka. He had many literary works published against his will after his death. The novel also features several different things that people find different from a normal novel. The first thing that was different was the translation from Middle German to English, many things were not translated correctly. Another difference was doing the impossible when he turned Gregor into an insect. The novel has several different themes: the absurdity of life, the disconnect between mind and body, and alienation. But the strangest thing people find is that many people believe it's an autobiography about his life. On the other hand, many people don't believe this is the case either. Many people believe that Franz wrote The Metamorphosis as his personal autobiography. Franz Kafka's life was not the best when he was growing up and died very early in his life. Franz never had a good relationship with his father who considered Franz a failure and did not consider writing a real career. In The Metamorphosis, the father and Gregor did not have a close relationship and the father kept the son in a small room. (Stephens) Franz used a bug to replace Gregor because that's how his father made him feel. Like a bug cowers in front of people and Gregor does when his sister comes clean, Franz's father made him cower. (The context of the metamorphosis) Gregor was the eldest of the Samsa family, just as Franz was the eldest and the only survivor...... middle of paper ...... ma and writing. 7th ed.
