Baseball is one of the most popular sports in the United States. Every year, millions of people gather to watch the World Series and declare a team champion. The game is played by nine players from opposing teams who each hit a wooden or metal bat against a ball to score more points than their opponent. For a team to score points, a player must run clockwise around four bases on a diamond-shaped grass field surrounded by orange clay. Although baseball is entertaining to watch in a stadium or on television, the sport has proven to many people that it is quite a challenge to master. For the rare professional baseball players, they have likely been fortunate to possess certain traits passed down from their parents that allow them to excel at baseball. Several traits that make up an exceptional baseball player include intelligence, agility, size, strength and coordination.
