    Societies are interconnected, which means that what happens in one country can affect another. If social workers have a global perspective, they will be able to take what they have learned about how a country handles a situation and either follow their model or modify it in order to start something new and useful. Although there are common problems around the world, solving them may require different approaches. Social workers who have been exposed to another welfare system will make them aware that there are alternative and perhaps more effective solutions to social problems that have not been applied in the United States (Engstrom, 2007) . We are all affected to varying degrees by changes in the Earth's ecology, events in world history, and developments of all kinds initiated by some branch or component of the human race, such as corporate capitalism.
