However, three small villages have disappeared due to the immigration of villagers to the United Kingdom. Nowadays, Tai Long Village is made up of two small villages called Tai Wai and Ham Tin. This village is made up of many small houses with tiled roofs. This type of building allows us to preserve a certain Chinese culture in this village. Most of the villagers live in these houses. Due to prolonged exposure, most houses are deteriorated. There are risks for villagers living in these houses. In addition, Tai Long village is far from the urban area. It is inconvenient for villagers to ask others for help. For example, if a villager becomes ill, the only and quickest way is to use the helicopter for transport. It is easy to aggravate the villagers' illnesses. This condition may explain why there are few people left in Tai Long Village. The villagers have no work in Tai Long village. To earn a living, villagers must find resources. Some villagers open a shop to sell food and drinks to earn money. Some villagers may use local resources to sustain their lives. Although Tai Long Village is old and lacks facilities, natural resources are one of the most valuable substances in this village and it is a good place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. By collecting all the villagers' stories, it generates an interesting story that other visitors might not find such information in this village. It is valuable to preserve these cultures in the form of words and images. In the proposal, it is planned to make two wooden panels. One is made for the Cheung Uk Wai and Lam Uk Wai trail to indicate the location of two vanished villages and provide information about these two villages. Another wooden panel is made for the disused house located next to Ham Tin Road, as this house was important for electricity production in the past. In addition, there are plans to make flyers for the Village Chief's Shop, Hing Kee Shop and Hoi Fung Shop to tell the story of the trader. In addition, two banners should be placed on the wall of the village chief's shop and next to the Hoi Fung shop as a tourist map. As a result, four leaflets were produced. An additional leaflet is produced for the On Kee store. This decision is made because fairness is considered since each store has a leaflet and the On Kee shopkeeper provided the genealogy of Ham Tin village, which is valuable information. Additionally, the style of flyers is now based on images rather than words. Additionally, the location of a banner has changed. Overall, the tasks can be accomplished as expected in the service proposal. Reasons to Participate in Service-Learning Participating in service-learning has a wide variety of benefits that can enhance our thinking and developmentstaff. According to Mckenna and Rizzo (1999), participating in service learning can help digest the knowledge gained from the course material. It is important that we can have a deeper understanding of the course material. In this course, we learned how to produce the asset map and knowledge about geographic information. After this course, we know how to find the map and geographic information on the Internet. However, this information belongs to third-party information which may not be accurate. Through service learning, we can go to the site and record the information needed to make the asset map. We can get first-hand information, which is relatively new and updated. Without service learning, we will only rely on old information available on the Internet and make an asset map similar to previous work. We can create a strengths map with certain personal styles. For example, we can display the desired details on the map, such as the location of the house and the people who live in these houses. Therefore, service learning can provide us with a great experience that allows us to use the knowledge from the course and discover new things. Through this experience, our knowledge in this area can be digested in depth. Batchelder and Root (1994) found that service learning can have a positive effect on the complexity of problem analysis. Service learning can improve our problem-solving skills. In this subject, we have acquired the communication skills in this subject. Since our group's topic is oral history, communication is one of the most important parts of the service day. We need to collect first-hand data through communication. We learned that communication involves different categories such as verbal, non-verbal and written communication. By using different types of communication, we can effectively achieve two-way communication and receive and transmit the message effectively. However, we encounter some difficulties when trying to communicate with the villagers. The villagers are busy running the store and don't have time to communicate with us. We also need to communicate with merchants to discuss the position of the banner and the leaflets we have made. If we cannot communicate with the villagers, we will not be able to complete this project. Finally, we thought of different means of communication, such as telephone communication, to avoid the cloudy period of the store. In addition, our group tried to spend the night in Tai Long village and communicate with the villagers at night. This can increase the chances of successful communication. Through service learning, our problem analysis skills have been improved as we can find the fundamental problems in communication and come up with solutions to solve the problems. At the same time, we can also practice communication knowledge in service learning to ensure the functionality of knowledge. Third, service learning can improve our creation of practical strategies for community action. In this subject, we have acquired knowledge of sustainable development. This is also one of the objectives of this subject in order to nourish the feeling of sustainable development in society. Sustainable development is development that meets theneeds of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Therefore, we need to find a solution to help the development of Tai Long Village by compromising social, environmental and economic aspects. This involves a lot of creativity because the development offers a wide variety of choices. During the process, our group brainstormed and gave different ideas in order to meet the development requirements and ensure the practicability of the products. This process can train our creativity. Moreover, sustainable development is known since this idea was introduced in high school. However, we have never implemented the idea of sustainable development into reality. This subject gives us an opportunity to put into practice the idea we have formulated and learn the concept of sustainable development precisely. For example, we made a billboard using materials abandoned in the village and this takes environmental aspects into account. This project can also reinforce the concept of community consideration when we need to make a decision in the future. Roles and Responsibilities as a Responsible Citizen In this service learning, I have to go to Tai Long Village and find a way to help the development of the village. This village is far from the urban area and it has a beautiful scene. This village presents a great diversification in inserts and animals. This village therefore has high quality natural resources. As I live in an urban area, I rarely see the beautiful natural surroundings of a residential area. The air quality must be worse than that of Tai Long village because there are few factories and many vehicles in the urban area. Nowadays, people may focus on the economic development of society and neglect environmental development in reality. People have many behaviors that deteriorate environmental development, such as using private cars instead of public transportation. This can affect air quality in urban areas. As a responsible citizen, I should be responsible towards the environment because the environment belongs to all citizens. I should pay attention to my own behaviors. I should save electricity when using different electrical appliances to reduce carbon footprint. Additionally, I should use more environmentally friendly products, which helps protect the environment. Every citizen must protect the environment in order to maintain a good environment for the next generation and myself. In Tai Long Village, every villager has the right to vote to select the village chief according to their preferences. In this small village, villagers can always organize a voting event and every villager is ready to participate in the village related event. When the village leader is chosen by all the villagers, the village can function effectively. As a responsible citizen, I must participate in the event related to society. For example, I should participate in the selection of district council members because I should use my right to vote to change society and create a better society. We must obey our obligation. We should also actively give our opinion when consulting the policy. Through the communication and compromise of different people, living things can become better. Roles and Responsibilities as a Professional in My Disciplines In this service learning, I understand the importance of the natural environment. I should cherish the environment. I study building services engineering and this discipline is related to the air conditioning system, the system.
