Leadership style is the way in which a leader provides direction, implements plans, and motivates individuals or a team to achieve a goal (Newlink, 1997). In the participative leadership style, group members are allowed to identify goals and develop strategies to achieve the goal. As a participatory leader, I do not impose my ideals on my members or impose my decision on everyone. Even though the final decision rests with me, each member of the group always provides an opportunity to express their point of view and knowledge of the task at hand. The suggestion of each member is considered and the final decision is taken based on the suggestions. Therefore, I serve as a facilitator and not a dictator.A1a. Strength: Major The main strengths of the participative leadership style are job satisfaction and productivity. When employees are given the opportunity to participate in an organization's decision-making process; it boosts their morale and makes them feel included. Employees will likely develop a sense of commitment to the organization and increase their job performance, resulting in overall organizational productivity. When employees notice that their employers involve them in the company's decision-making process, their level of job satisfaction will increase, which will benefit the company. Another valuable asset of the participative leadership style is better decision-making. As the old adage goes, “two heads are better than one” when it comes to making decisions. This is why the board of directors is made up of several people. However, there are some similarities between the styles that present an opportunity for synergy. Identifying potential and capitalizing on it will positively increase the team's productivity. It is evident that all three leadership styles have a desire to arrive at a concrete, educational decision and influence the team with direction. The team can capitalize on each leader's desire to achieve their goal by recognizing the importance of collaboration within the team with freedom (participation, laissez-faire leadership style) and the importance of providing direction adequate and educational (autocratic style). Including all three leadership styles will satisfy each leader, enhance their styles and ultimately increase team productivity.
