NursingI became interested in nursing when a member of my family was recently diagnosed with cancer and passed away. This tragedy took a heavy toll on me and made me determined to find a cure for cancer. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics/Occupational Outlook Handbook, in order for me to pursue this dream of finding a cure for cancer, I must obtain all different types of education. Starting with medical assisting and registered nurses, then a nurse anesthetist and a nurse practitioner, then finally a physician. These nurses perform physical exams, give patients their medications and treatments, and also operate and monitor medical equipment. Usually in the workspace they work independently or in collaboration with doctors. They prescribe medications, order medical tests, and diagnose health problems. Finally, they specialize in caring for certain groups, children, pregnant women or patients suffering from mental health disorders (“What they do”). These nurses work in various environments such as hospitals, clinics, offices, schools and birthing centers (“Work Environment”). ).To become one of these professions, you first need a master's degree from an accredited program. I will have to take courses in anatomy, physiology and pharmacology. But I also need to become a registered nurse before I can continue my education in advanced practice roles. I must also have clinical experience in basic sciences, communication skills, leadership skills, critical thinking skills, interpersonal skills, compassion, resourcefulness and I must be detail oriented (“How become one"). Nurse anesthetists are paid $148,160 per year. Midwives are paid $89,600 per year, nurse practitioners are paid $89,960 per year, working in a hospital pays $101,990 and ...... middle of paper ...... ll. An LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) performs “hands-on” work. Such as administering injections and medications, taking temperature, drawing blood, cleaning wounds, and recording heart rate, weight, and blood pressure. A registered nurse (RN) performs some of the same tasks, but works in different areas than an LPN. A registered nurse may work in palliative care, emergency care, infusion care, and more. (“What do nurses do?”). In conclusion, becoming a nurse to pursue my dreams requires a lot of motivation, determination and hard work. I am very motivated and determined to stick with it. I really want to get my nursing degree and pursue my dream of finding a cure for all types of cancer. Soon he will become a doctor. The joy of seeing others save lives and help others really lifts my spirits, which also makes me want to do the same. If you have the chance to save a life, why not try.
