Animal testing is a common practice in today's life that is necessary to ensure the safety of humans who will use the product being tested. There are many positive and negative aspects of animal testing, but the pros clearly outweigh the cons. Animal experimentation has existed since ancient times, when animals were dissected to gain knowledge about the body and organs. Animals killed in animal testing represent a tiny percentage of the total animals killed each year. If we simply consider animals used for food versus animals used for testing, animals tested represent only 2.6 percent of that number.
