For example, he is very kind and forgiving. “At first glance, and to the person who saw him for the first time, he was nothing more than a good person” (5). He also believes that people deserve second chances. But I expect to see this character evolve throughout the story because he is very uneducated at the beginning of the story. I also think he will be influenced by other characters around him.2/3/14Characterizing Javert.Javert is a very dedicated police officer and determined to help others. He carries out his work with such passion that he feels "only disdain, aversion and disgust for all those who once exceeded the limits of the law" (55). Javert has his problems like everyone else but he is so passionate about his work that he forgets to show mercy from time to time. His feelings toward those who participate in the crime are hatred, and he “cannot be deceived; a magistrate never does harm” (55). Javert believes that all crime is a form of rebellion. His way of acting is influenced by his past. In his past, "his [way of life] was a life of deprivation, isolation, self-denial and chastity" (... middle of paper ...... the first instinct is to arrest Jean for having participated in the uprising but then he realizes that this is his friend and that if Jean is removed from his life, he will have no one else in this world that he loves. , he decides to take a different path and seek new meaning in his life.3/18/14How do Jean Valjean's actions and words in the final reading (pp. 548-595) relate to or develop a theme of the novel?
