Essay / Algebra Study Discussion Course
Algebra is very complex and has been a big problem for me since I started it in high school. A question I have asked and many others ask is: why do we even need to learn algebra? When you study these problems in a classroom, it is very difficult to imagine how you would use this in real life. Until I got to college, I was completely sure that it was a waste of time and made no sense, but I was dead wrong. I now know many reasons why this is a requirement in school, but I'm not entirely convinced that it should be imposed on everyone. Say no to plagiarism. Arithmetic is so much easier and algebra is in a completely different league. Why is algebra so much harder for people if it's supposed to make math easier for us? But when you realize the real-life situations you can solve using algebra, it becomes much clearer. It can be used to determine grocery budgets more efficiently, adjusting recipes to feed varying numbers of people; it is also used by construction workers, architects and engineers for planning, purchasing and construction. Algebra also helps you think logically and in complex ways; Algebra is believed to teach useful mental habits that both open up possible future careers and also help develop general problem-solving skills. Coming to university made me realize how important mathematics is and how widely it is used in our society; I didn't realize that you needed mathematics to become a computer engineer. I know now that I couldn't even use my computer without algebra. Algebra is used in much of our technology, also necessary in many hard science courses; it also creates medicines and is used to pay our taxes, mortgages and interest rates. In an article titled "Why Algebra is Important to Learn," Zalman Usiskin stated that without algebra, students "cannot complete many assignments or even enroll in programs that will allow them to get a job; are more likely to make unwise decisions, financial or otherwise, and will not be able to understand many ideas discussed in the fields of chemistry, physics, earth sciences, economics, business, psychology and many other fields. Students who leave college with a background in algebra are thought to have more confidence in mathematics; It’s certainly a revelation about how important algebra is to me. Taking algebra in middle school allows students to tackle more difficult math when they enter high school; This makes sense because I didn't touch algebra until I got to high school, and the only other math classes I remember taking were geometry and trigonometry. Taking it earlier and being able to understand it would help students greatly. I believe this is absolutely true because here I am in my first semester of university in remedial ALGEBRA. If I had been doing this since middle school, I think I wouldn't have as much trouble with it. Keep in mind: this is just a sample. Get a personalized item now from our..
