1] In 1984, the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide factory in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, made history witnessing the world's worst industrial disaster ever. The Bhopal disaster (Bhopal gas tragedy) occurred as a result of a gas leak incident that occurred in the night from 2 to 3 a.m. in December 1984. The result of this gas leak resulted in risks to more than half a million people by exposing them to chemical risks; one of these chemicals is methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas. Additionally, it caused the immediate deaths of more than 2,000 people. On top of that, others estimate that 8,000 people died after two weeks from illnesses caused by the gas. The cause of the Bhopal disaster was found to be “corporate negligence”. The company did not have a good safety system in the work environment. They were filling tanks with methyl isocyanate (MIC) beyond the required level, thereby allowing the safety systems to be inoperable due to poor maintenance and disabling the safety system in order to save money . Managers are more aware of the code of ethics but when it comes to workers, they seem to know nothing about the code of ethics. Since I don't have much knowledge about the code of ethics, that means there is no other common problem. There are a few suggestions to resolve this issue. First, training sessions should be held regularly. Second, organizations must ensure that even workers are informed of their ethical position. Third, there should be champions at the top of management to promote ethics in companies, as it needs constant support; especially since ethics could come into conflict with profitability. These are the few suggestions that have been created based on the knowledge gained from studying engineering ethics..
