    Public schools can, without doubt, achieve great things by supplementing their budgets with money from corporate sponsorship; However, this activity is dangerous for public schools because it could put them in a position where they are expected to support a company's policies while potentially being asked to abandon their beliefs for their own standards and ethical. Since the early 1900s, with the influx of immigrants and the increasing number of children enrolled in schools due to lack of employment opportunities, there has been a strong demand for education reform in regarding laws and financing (Grubb). In 1958, education reform was propelled forward by one of the largest contributors to the American public education system, the National Defense Education Act (NDEA). On September 2, 1958, the law was signed, launching a program that injected billions of dollars into the American education system. The funding supported programs that promoted the nation's progress in areas such as science, mathematics, technology and weapons. They did this in order to compete and produce innovations amid the pressures of the space race resulting from Cold War rivalry. The NDEA inspired education reform and brought the issue of educating the growing number of people going to college to the forefront of the American agenda. Since then, Americans have fought and campaigned to maintain their support for the education of the nation's youth. nation.
