Essay / Rhetorical Analysis of the Birmingham Jail Letter
King acknowledges that negations are an impressive approach, but points out their current unavailability since the issue is simply ignored. For this reason, King argues that nonviolent actions are intended "to create a crisis and establish a tension so creative that a community that has historically refused to negotiate is forced to confront these problems" (King). Here, King consents to the public's opinion on the negotiation and adds the facts related to the real issue in order to justify why he is doing it his way. The public can be led to reason and agree that their actions are the most appropriate approach by supporting their decision by arguing that the community denies paying attention to the cause and that nonviolent protest has a huge impact.
