Opponents of the use of unions for collective bargaining in today's workplace argue that the irrelevance of these organizations is demonstrated by the recent steady decline of the unionization rate. One of the main arguments used to demonstrate that unions are outdated obstacles to progress is the ever-increasing hostility of management and their attitudes toward unions. This hostility and attitude is a byproduct of negativity as well as other factors or a consequence of a combination of factors. Leaders continued to show negativity toward unions due to differences in market composition and structures, changes in labor laws, size of organizations, differences in public policies, union philosophies and the impact of unions on wages (Campolieti, Gomez & Gunderson, 2013). , p.100). Second, unions are seen as old-fashioned obstacles to progress because many workers are not covered by collective bargaining agreements. Since these organizations are created to facilitate collective bargaining, the lack of many bargaining contracts covering many employers makes them obstacles to progress. In cases where collective agreements are used, they are negotiated between the company or business and the local union rather than at the national level (Pencavel, 2014, p.143). Unions are therefore no longer useful since many employers prefer to negotiate with their employees rather than with external organizations. Third, opponents of unions in the marketplace argue that these organizations are outdated due to the enormous structural changes occurring in the sector. economy or workforce due to technological advancements and globalization. The limitation of this study lies in the relative bias of the existing literature regarding the impact and importance of unions in the workplace. Existing literature has primarily focused on why unions are outdated obstacles to progress rather than crucial elements in promoting and protecting social benefits. Essentially, the available literature makes it difficult to conduct a balanced study on the issue. The results of this research can be used as a first step towards an objective and balanced assessment of the relevance and importance of unions in the workplace. The findings can also be used to develop effective strategies that would ensure that these organizations continue to achieve their goals while transforming in line with existing changes..
