  • Essay / Invention and Influence of the Microscope - 795

My essay topic will talk about chemistry and technology and focus on the invention and influence on the microscope. Chemistry has helped people look at technology in a different way, including how we use it and how easy it is to find data more quickly. Technology has also changed chemistry in several ways. Some examples are the discovery of new viruses and the discovery of cures to prevent diseases from spreading around the world. The microscope has played a very important role in chemistry since its invention. There is some doubt, but Zacharias Jansenn seems to be the one who invented the microscope in 1595 in Holland (source 1). He invented it by assembling a magnifying glass and a light under the sample he was looking at. Once he did this, he could see 20 to 30 times over what he was looking at (source 1). He wanted to examine samples that humans couldn't see with the naked eye. He looked at the dirt, grass and blood even as he scraped the tartar from his teeth (source 2). What he saw will change the way everyone sees things today. Society was in crisis before the invention of the microscope. The disease was endemic and people who were sick most of the time eventually died from it. Many people caught colds, flu and sometimes the plague. People did not know what illness they were suffering from; they simply knew the symptoms of the illness from which they suffered. People around the world were looking for an answer to stop what was happening to them. Nobody likes being sick. Everyone tried many ways to find cures to cure the sick population, but whatever they did, it only worked for a few days, if at all. Remedies have never completely cured the person of the disease. There was a big problem...... middle of paper...... has already changed and will continue to change the way we see things. The microscope is a technological advancement in chemistry as it has been invented since 1959. The technology that involves chemistry has evolved as chemistry involves technology. Whether it's observing cells 500 times larger with the naked eye, observing cells, bacteria in an animal, what happens in a plant and how it absorbs light, the microscope can change the world in just a second when a new discovery is made. People have come very close to discovering a cure for cancer, but time and time again it has failed. A cure for someone who needs a cure for cancer can happen in an instant with the help of the microscope and the necessary resources. Once people look at life through a microscope, there is no stopping or telling how many discoveries and cures we can find..
