    The role of the instructor (called a tutor in PBL) is to facilitate learning by supporting, guiding and monitoring the learning process. Teachers need to build students' confidence to tackle the problem and encourage them, while broadening their understanding. Problem-based learning represents a paradigm shift from the traditional philosophy of teaching and learning, which most often relies on lectures. The teaching concepts of problem-based learning are very different from those in a traditional classroom or lecture.
