Table of ContentsExternal and Internal Factors That Shape My Christian WorldviewConcluding ThoughtsWorks CitedA worldview is the way someone sees the world. It is their perspective on life and the world around them. That being said, what is a Christian worldview? A Christian worldview is when someone views the world with the Bible in mind and understanding that everything in it is entirely true. Say no to plagiarism. Get an original essay Knowing that this could be considered a “cookie cutter” worldview, not all Christians will have the exact same worldview. Each person may feel like the Bible has everything they need for their worldview, but they will also have other elements that play a role in their worldview. Some factors that could affect a worldview could be culture, how they were raised, and their daily environment. External and Internal Factors That Shape My Christian Worldview Although I am a Christian and the Bible is what I base my worldview on, my family has helped shape the way I view daily life. I know I have to do everything to please Christ and follow everything in the Bible, but with the people I put myself with in situations like school, work, or even church. In being around people who don't follow what the Bible says, I've ventured to do some of the things they do, and if you do something long enough it will change the way you view it. Therefore, by participating in activities that would not necessarily qualify as "Christian" and are not necessarily part of a Christian worldview, it has affected the way I see the world, or my worldview. When I think of culture, I think of today's pop culture. Pop culture isn't about what you listen to, what music you play, or how you dress, but to me it's about how you see the world. Celebrities, for example, are the main pioneers in this area. Just like when it comes to people's worldview, modern citizens see what celebrities wear or do and tend to follow them. When it comes to worldviews, Christians tend to follow Jesus in what they do. They may want to spend their whole lives around Jesus. Having a worldview around Jesus helps you stay away from the temptation that pop culture offers. I believe that the way we were raised can be another factor that can affect someone's Christian worldview. Some people could have been raised in a Christian home while others could not. If someone was raised in a Christian home, he or she could see that the world would know that everything they do is for God and only for God. It's a good way to live, but it's different from someone who didn't grow up in a home like that. If someone grew up in a non-Christian home, didn't have the best life, or experienced tragedy, they may think that having a worldview based on the Bible and Jesus is crazy. They may hate Jesus, so their worldview would be based on something totally different from what the Bible says and live for Jesus. The people we surround ourselves with on a daily basis or our daily environment can also affect our view of the world. A good example of this is if you surround yourself with a group of people who don't do much, perhaps who all do drugs or get drunk.
