In every society in this world, there are certain ways of being that are only acceptable to the people who are part of that community. These lifestyles are called social norms and evolve spontaneously over time. Social norms are greatly influenced by individuals and organizations, and their ability to present themselves in the public eye. Social media, politicians, and celebrities have the largest and most influential impact on the social norms of society. Take for example the last government elections. Social media sites and news channels were buzzing with constant daily gossip and photos supporting or degrading the Republican or Democratic Party. However, advertising is not limited to politics alone. Celebrities and large organizations take advantage of showcase opportunities to grab the public's attention and hypnotize them into believing that they should act and think in a certain way. In addition, geographic barriers that create distances between countries tend to modify the behavior and reaction of individuals to certain situations. More visibly, an action that may be pleasant on one side of the world may be considered unpleasant on the other. Communism is a prime example of this, alongside mass genocides and extreme social hierarchy. Ultimately, the more power an individual or organization possesses, the more control and ability they have to significantly influence the people around them. Social media and networking are two of the best ways to influence the opinions and beliefs of a society. Given that it is a primary communications hub for millions of people around the world, the power of social media is incredible. Making people want to act or look a certain way, or brainwashing them into how they should think or what to believe, can all fall into the hands of social media and wealthy people who manage them. These organizations may never truly understand the effects they have on people and how they constantly change the way people see themselves. Although many adjustments require better social norms, many do not and lead to disastrous results. By and large, social norms arise strictly from the most popular and well-liked places, so there will probably never be a general social norm. The only way this would happen is if everyone in the world agreed on the same look, beliefs, and lifestyles, but the chances of that happening even only a little, are thin, or even non-existent..
