Obesity has continued to grow and affect not only the lives of obese people and their families, but also the society around them. We learned that the growth of obesity poses financial problems and that the cost of health care has increased. I think because of this problem, nutrition labels are an important part of foods for consumers. People should monitor what they eat if necessary and nutrition labels should be reliable and reviewed judiciously. Since this is important, I think the government should have a say in what is on the labels and make sure they are informative to American society. The FDA, which is the United States Food and Drug Administration, is part of the United States Department of Food and Health. Their goal and slogan is “Protect and promote your health”. The FDA plays a very important role in nutrition labeling and protection in helping people be aware of what they eat.
