Essay / Animal abuse and cruelty - 679
Introduction.Animal cruelty has always existed. Since ancient times, people did not have the culture of caring for animals, and even today, when we have the knowledge and all kinds of sources of information, this is currently happening all over the world. This is a very unfortunate situation, because just like us, they also feel pain; Unfortunately, many people don't understand this fact, or don't care. I became a vegetarian after realizing that animals are afraid, cold, hungry and unhappy like us. I am very sensitive to vegetarianism and the animal kingdom. It was my dog Boycott that led me to question the right of humans to eat other sentient beings (Chavez, 1999). Obviously, I'm not the only one who is against animal abuse; there are many people fighting to end this horrible thing, we must, in a special way, work twice as hard to help people understand that animals are fellow human beings, that we must protect them and love them as ourselves (Montero, 2000). As Ghandi once said: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. » (Gandhi, 1937). A person or an entire nation can be defined by how they treat animals, their whole personality can be judged by the simple act of mistreating an animal, they don't understand that they are just like us emotionally speaking. They feel too! I would like to change people's minds about animals and get them to love them just as they love their family members or friends. The true moral test of humanity, its fundamental test… consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: the animals (Kundera, 2002). How would you feel if they mistreated you, hit you, kicked you and got angry... . middle of paper......to defeat the attackers for good. Animals will always thank us and it will feel good to know that we have done something for our planet and for those who need us most. Animals have the same right to live freely. Don't let people give the impression that this is something normal and something that should be accepted by society. We must act before it is too late. We slaughter a calf and hang it by its heels so that it bleeds to death so that our veal cutlet is white; we nail geese to a board and stuff them with food because we like the taste of liver disease; we tear apart birds to decorate our women's hats; we mutilate domestic animals for no reason except to follow an instinctively cruel fashion; and we are accomplices in the most abominable tortures in the hope of discovering through them some magical cure for our own illnesses. (Shaw, the Man and Superman, 1999).
