    Over the past four decades, the House of Congress has played a crucial role in passing a number of civil rights laws that also aim to eliminate the discrimination in all educational programs. as well as all activities that receive federal funding. The statutes include: Title VI (which prohibits race, national origin, color, and discrimination); Title IX of the (Education Amendments of 1972 which seek to prohibit sex discrimination in educational institutions); Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in public settings: section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 which also prohibits discrimination against disability); and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, which aims to discourage ageism. These civil rights laws embody a nationwide commitment to end all forms of discrimination in the education system (Anderson & Cheslock, 2004). Such laws were designed to help realize the dream of America's ancestors that all individuals, regardless of age, race, color, or religion, should have the opportunity to realize their greatest potential. The above federal civil rights laws have been successful in achieving many positive results in the American education system. They also played a vital role in improving equal educational opportunities for all Americans. In the past, there were many barriers that could prevent women, people with disabilities and older people from choosing the career and level of education they wanted. However, this limitation appears to be easing thanks to these laws, including Title IX.
