The life and writings of Saint PaulPaul, once a persecutor of Christians, was on the road to Damascus when suddenly God spoke to him. “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:4) God asked. Paul was then blinded and taken by his friends to Damascus, where a disciple named Ananias was waiting for him. Ananias healed Paul's blindness and baptized him. From then on, Paul dedicated himself to spreading the Good News throughout the world. Returning to Damascus, he stayed there for a while, preaching that Jesus was the Son of God. Because of this, the Jews began to hate him and Paul had to flee the city. Then he went to the city of Jerusalem to meet Paul, the head of the new Church. After leaving Jerusalem, he was called by Barnabus to come to Antioch. A year later, a great famine occurred and Barnabus and Paul were sent to the poor Christian community in Jerusalem. Having achieved their objective, they returned to Antioch. Soon after, Paul and Barnabus embarked on their first missionary journey and visited the island of Cyprus. Then they traveled to Asia Minor and founded new churches at Iconium and Lystra. After the Apostolic Council of Jerusalem, Paul undertook his second missionary journey, first visiting the churches he had already established in Asia Minor.
