  • Essay / Modern Street Art versus Graffiti - 929

Modern street art and graffiti are undeniably linked. Graffiti could in many ways be considered the ancestor of street art: it paved the way for the development of modern street art. Graffiti is associated with vandalism that the government was desperate to erase. Graffiti played a huge role in the development of the street art we all know today. Conklin notes this in his article. She describes graffiti as an exclusive world to which only members of the group have access.
