If Americans support religious freedom, then there should be an end to the act of shunning same-sex couples because their religious views don't align with what most people believe. Despite the fact that the Declaration of Independence states that every citizen has the right to pursue happiness, the government and a large majority of citizens of the United States do not seem to understand that happiness is different for different individuals. Much of this controversy can be blamed on the bias of government officials, who are mostly Christian and whose teachings view same-sex marriage as wrong.
