While the supervisor addresses the police officer's boss asking how he would feel raising his newborn behind bars and how he can look up to his father. The man would later respond that they thought the boy was already dead and that they couldn't do anything else for him but the truth was that he wasn't dead, he was still fighting in the hospital for that his family was praying for him. Throughout the film we don't understand many things but as the story continues we realize several things, for example we don't understand why Brenton was at the park when he was supposed to be at school, and why he is riding his bike, the reason is because he was coming home from his boyfriend's house and then we understand why his father was so hurt and so hard on him because he didn't approve his relationship.
