  • Essay / Personal Story: The Wild - 1162

The WildMy family and I were at home having dinner. After dinner, I told my mother that I had forgotten something at the top of the mountain, so she said, “Go up and get it, Mary.” But she didn't want me to go alone so I went to see if my friend was home but he wasn't so I disobeyed my mother's rules and went up alone anyway. And it was getting dark so I had to get the base quickly but I couldn't find it. Now it was really dark and 2 hours had already passed and I couldn't leave the mountain because it was so dark. And with my luck my phone died so I couldn't call anyone for help so I just started walking and walking after a little while I realized I wasn't going anywhere so I I walked again, finally I fell and fell asleep. In the morning I woke up and there were trees everywhere, then I realized I must have walked a lot more than I thought. And then I realized that I was lost and that I had walked extremely far without knowing where I was going. Then I realized that I had no way to get down from this mountain, so I started collecting sticks and dry leaves to make a fire, then I started collecting branches and leaves to start to build a cabin under a small ledge that I had found. The second thing I did was find a rock and started banging it against another rock to sharpen it to protect myself from predators during the night. Since we're in Northern California, there are bears and I have a feeling I might encounter one soon enough. After a little while I started a small fire using 2 stones and crushed them together to create sparks. In the middle of the night, I heard a roar and broken brush, then suddenly I heard a gunshot and moans, of fear. I hid under the ledge not knowing what was outside... middle of paper ......ck and fell asleep. That night I had a dream, in the dream I was climbing and there were people all around me and the people were shouting Cody and they kept shouting him and then I started shaking and I realized someone was trying to wake me up. I woke up looking at a man's face and he asked me if I was lost and I said yes, not really knowing what was going on. So he told me to come back to his camp and he might get something to eat. I tried to get up but my leg was really hurt so the man helped me up and I asked what his name was, he said it was Brian. When we got back to his camp I looked around and he had set up 4 tents. I guessed one for his wife, one for the child and one for another child. Now that I was in a safe place, I knew I was ready to sleep without an alarm. or hunt without fear of being attacked, I was safe and happy.
