  • Essay / Personal reflection on diversity in the classroom

    Observing the teacher/student interaction, students are very eager to get involved in the discussions. This shows that they understand and appreciate the material given to them. This got me thinking about my second year in English where we didn't have much to read that was truly enjoyable. Sure, we talked about ethnicity, but we couldn't understand the meaning of diversity as much as he did in this class. It has two sections, the class as a whole, and the four students who make up the specialization group. I had the opportunity to spend time with the specialized group, I was able to distinguish the different roles and the different qualities of each student which complement each other. Even though the course is interactive, some students still hold back and do not express themselves as much as others in class. Each student learns at a different pace, but as a teacher he keeps them engaged. It may bounce from student to student, but it gives them all equality in learning.
