  • Essay / Personal Writing: My Grandfather's Personality and Memorable Moments

My Favorite PersonA southerner, a drinker, a foul mouth, a grumpy old man, are phrases you would probably use to describe my grandfather, but for me, he has a heart of gold. A man who knows no stranger, that sums him up pretty well. He could talk to someone he had just met about anything and everything for hours. Say no to plagiarism. He's just an extraordinary man. Based on his appearance and the way he acts, you would think he is 20 years younger than he actually is. He knows everything about cars! When he was younger, he and his brother would buy broken cars, fix them up, and sell them for triple the price they bought them for. He always tells me stories about all the cars he reconditioned. He made limousines, sports cars and trucks, but the main thing he made was military jeeps. He said they probably made about 20 of these jeeps. I always remember when I went to visit him in Alabama, there was always a new car in the driveway that he was fixing up. Sometimes he let my brother and I help him. I remember when my parents took my brother and sister to Disney World and left me with my grandparents. When they arrived at their house to pick me up, I was under a 75 Chevy with grease on my face and my grandfather next to me. The funny thing is, I was only four years old. I have many memories of my grandfather, but what I will always remember about him are all his habits. It's just the little things he does that really stick with me. For example: him drinking his wild turkey. He always drinks a cup of Wild Turkey right before going to bed, and when he travels he keeps it in a fake book called David and How He Does It. He always brags about how much he reads this book. It's funny. I think the main thing I'll remember about him is his screams. I know it sounds bad, but it characterizes him. Without it, he wouldn't be the same. He makes fun of this and that, pretty stupid things that frustrate him. He always screams if you do something he doesn't like or if he wants you to do something for him. The phrase I think he's famous for is Damn, give me another beer. This is the phrase we always say when we talk about him. You might call it his call sign.Keep in mind: this is just a sample.Get a custom paper from our expert writers now.Get a custom essayEven with all his bad habits and cries, I still love him. I sometimes think about what it would be like without him. I just can't imagine it. I don't know if I'm in denial that it will eventually happen, or if I love it so much that I don't want to think about how I'll feel when it happens. All I know is that I will never forget him and that no matter what happens, I will always love him. He's my grandfather.
