Jackie Robinson: The Book and the MovieJackie Robinson stands at the plate, the bat clutched tightly in his hands. The crowd, rather than cheering him, booed and shouted at him. Racial slurs were thrown even before baseball, but Jackie remained calm. He couldn't let them win. The pitcher finally threw the ball. Crack! The ball flies over the stadium and the crowd is full of convoluted screams and shouts. Jackie ran home. He had won this round. Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play Major League baseball. His inspiring actions and wise words are still remembered today, and on Jackie Robinson Day, every baseball player wears his jersey: "42." Many biographies have been written, including one, The Noble Experiment. Recently, in April 2013, Legendary Motion Pictures released a movie called “42”. In many ways, the film and Jackie's autobiography are similar. However, they are also different in many ways. The first notable difference is the narration.
