HPE 1 ASSIGNMENT 2 ID: 663656QUESTION 1The study addresses the impact of dietary acculturation on obesity rates among migrant communities from Logan, in south-east Queensland. Dietary acculturation is the result of migration and involves the adoption by migrants of nutritional behaviors and dietary practices from host countries (1). This has been associated with an increased incidence of obesity and diabetes among migrants. (2). This study examines the nutrition information needs of African and Pacific Islander communities in Logan. Stakeholders include anyone who has a “stake” in an assessment or study (3). In this study, the relevant stakeholders were migrant communities, primarily people from Africa and the Pacific Islands. Other stakeholders included officials from the local health and social services board, organizations working in the government health sector in Logan, non-government organizations and Queensland Health's Logan-Beaudesert Place Based Initiative. The study targeted members of the migrant community living in Logan. Queensland region. Participants were migrants from Africa (Congo, Ethiopia, Burundi and Sudan) and the Pacific Islands (Samoa, Cook Islands, Tonga and New Zealand (the Maori)).
