Pitbulls are the most controversial dog breed. “The term 'Pit Bull' does not describe a single breed of dog; it is an umbrella term used to define several working dog breeds originally bred by crossing bulldogs with terriers. (Pit Bull) Pitbulls were an iconic dog in early America. Today, pit bulls are the most feared and guarded breed. Pitbulls are good and bad, because to understand the positive aspects of modern dogs, one must understand the negative aspects that led to their creation and continuation. Pitbulls were an iconic dog in early America. During the first half of the 20th century, Pitbulls were the most hidden dog in the United States. They appeared on American recruiting posters for World War I and World War II. They have been featured as ideal family dogs on television and in movies. They were once a treasured family possession. The general use of Pitbulls was once as herding dogs, working dogs, guardians, pets, and they earned their keep as hunters. Pitbulls are now the most feared and scrutinized of all dog breeds. Pitbulls are now considered demons. They have a media reputation as predators. They began to be feared in the 1980s. Pitbulls account for the majority of dog bites, which qualifies them as naturally aggressive and dangerous. Pit bulls have been involved in twice as many dog-related human deaths as any other breed.
