Society believes that for freedom to be achieved, there must be constraints. Autonomy is valued and rare, and we believe that some must have less freedom for others to have more. On the contrary, Nelson Mandela, a famous South African politician, said: “For freedom is not simply throwing off one's chains, but living in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others. » (Mandela 1). Each of us is capable of making a difference in the lives of others. The soothing “rights” that society gives us should no longer satisfy us. The needs of each individual, rather than the wishes of a minority, should be a priority. Furthermore, physical and mental barriers must no longer contain us. Ronald Reagan believed that “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” We did not pass it on to our children through the blood. We must fight for it, protect it and pass it on so that they do the same. (Reagan 1). The beauty of being human is that we always have a choice. There is nothing we cannot do once we realize the power of a decision. Whether true freedom actually exists or not, whether there are real or imagined barriers, the power to choose is the key to finally resolving the question of freedom. We can then affirm that free will belongs to the individual and can mean whatever brings him the most.
